How to Lose Weight With Vitamins?

You are desperate to lose weight and will do whatever it takes. You have heard that you can lose weight with vitamins. Is it true and how is it done? It is true that you can lose weight with vitamins. In fact, there are two ways that help you lose weight with vitamins – you can take them in the form of supplements (pills) or you can take them in the form of vegetables.

Of course it is always better if you choose to go the natural way. Supplements go through a manufacturing process and almost always contain chemicals. Let us first look at the kinds of vitamin supplements that you can take to lose weight and how they work.

Vitamin supplements for weight loss

There are many supplements that you can take that help burn up the extra weight.

Choline – this one helps to metabolize fat. When your body doesn’t have sufficient levels of choline the fat that you consume is locked in the liver instead of being flushed out of the body. Eggs, wheat germ and peanuts are some food sources of choline but you can also find it in pill form. It is important to mention that whenever you are buying supplements you should check the label for how much of the main ingredient is contained in the brand that you are considering – there are many brands that contain very little of the main ingredient and lots of fluff. Look for anything that has at least 50% of the main ingredient.

Iodine – iodine is essential in the diet. It is the one that stimulated the thyroid which in turn stimulates metabolism. When iodine levels are low the body doesn’t burn as much fat as it should which means you become overweight. You can get iodine from sea kelp but you can also buy iodine supplements.

Inositol – When taken with choline, this supplement will make metabolism even faster. It can be found in eggs, soy and some nuts but you can also get it in supplement form.

Chromium – this supplement is great because it helps process carbohydrates (which turn into glucose and then fats) and flush excess out of the body. When you consume carbohydrates they are turned into fat. The less of them there are in the body the better. Chromium also reduces hunger pangs meaning that you eat less.

Vitamins B2, B3, B5, B6, B7 and B12 – these are all Vitamins that are essential for good metabolism, something that you really need if you are trying to lose weight. You can get them from many sources including wheat bran, eggs and oats.

Vitamin C – this Vitamin is more well know for its cold-fighting powers but it can also help you to lose weight. It converts glucose into energy which means that your body doesn’t get to store it as fat. You should be eating lots of citrus fruits, broccoli, blackcurrants and berries but you can also get Vitamin C in supplement form.

Omega 3 and Omega 6 – these are multi vitamins and multi minerals and they work with the other supplements that you are taking to ensure even faster weight loss.

Coenzyme Q10 – this one helps your cells mitochondria to function more efficiently which in turn translates to a higher metabolism.

In case you are wondering what metabolism is, it is the efficiency with which your body is able to convert food into energy. You have probably met people who can eat whatever they want and never gain an ounce. This is because they have very good metabolism – even when they eat junk it is processed and converted into energy very fast. Fat people have just the opposite – they metabolize slowly and the food is converted into fat instead of energy.

Juicing for weight loss

If you don’t want to take supplements you can juice yourself to your desired weight. Most people, when you talk of juicing, usually think about juicing fruits. In fact, juicing fruits will have just the opposite effect. Fruits contain a lot of sugar. Imagine you juice 3 or 4 apples, some strawberries, pineapple and organs. This is a lot of sugar consumed all at once. You should eat your fruit whole instead of eating it. Imagine trying to eat the same amount of fruit as we have just juiced – it is quite difficult.

Unfortunately, we have been made to believe that juicing is a healthy habit – it is but you should watch what you juice. You should be juicing more vegetables and less fruits. In fact, you should only throw in one or two pieces of fruit to improve the taste and smell of the vegetables that you have juiced. Try and juice a wide variety of vegetables – you will get more nutrition that way. When it comes to weight loss, juicing helps because it makes you feel full and thus eat less. There are other benefits of juicing.

  • You get to consume a lot more nutrients when you juice. In fact, many of the ingredients that are included in the supplements that we talked about are included in some of the vegetables that you juice.
  • Juicing places less stress on your digestive system as it takes less to digest juice that raw fruit and vegetables.
  • Juicing is a great way to detox your body; it helps you flush out toxins from your system which is great for your immune system.
  • Juicing is very easy to do – in a matter of minutes you have a nutritious drink and you can even save some in the fridge for later.
  • Juicing is a great way for invalids to get nutrition.

Sleep is important too…

Research has shown that people who don’t get enough sleep are more at a risk of gaining weight as opposed to those who do. Unfortunately, most of us are not sleeping enough – we have jobs that keep us for long hours and by the time we are done with work and chores we only have a few hours to sleep. Try to reorganize yourself so that you can get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Rest and relax as much as you can during the weekends. In addition to sleeping you should make sure that you eliminate stress as much as possible.
