A Special Message from the President

Do you idolize nature - or fear it?   Has the interaction between
children and nature changed?  As Americans become increasingly
urbanized, their attitudes toward animals will change.  Are urban folks
more likely to protect animals as they fear them?  The source of food
and the reality of nature are to abstract.  Children don't kill animals
anymore just each other, as they are so disconnected from nature that
they either fear or romanticize what they don't know and understand.
What are children being taught in school?  With no experience with
nature (fishing, hunting, or trapping), children and nature are no
better off.

Do animal rights know what they want to accomplish?  The only animals
they know about are their pets or those animals they see in zoos or on
tv.  Environmental education is out of balance.  We don't want children
to view the woods as a dangerous place.  We must take nature back. What
will the future hold if we don't?  If you truly want to help wildlife,
get our youth involved.  Educate and inform them about trapping and all
of it's benefits.

Trapping season will be here before you know it.  Have you asked a
youngster to go with you?  Bring them to the 2000 NCTA Rendezvous,
September 22-24, 2000 at the Livestock Auction Arena near Smithfield.

As Always - Thinking Trapping
